On 06 June 2015, a training session for children aged 5-8 years old on the subject of “green city”, waste and recycling was held within “The Ecological Laboratory for Children” project jointly carried out by IDEA Public Union and “Sevimli Bala” at the Resource Center located at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

May 30th, 2015, marked the completion of the nationwide “Green Marathon” project, which had been launched in November of 2014 at the initiative of the founder and head of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva. Within the framework of the project, a total of around 1.5 million various trees have been planted throughout the country during the autumn planting season of 2014 and the spring planting season of 2015. The tree planting process as well as information on the planted trees, reports from districts and cities, and photos of tree-planting actions have been posted on the webpage of the “Green Marathon” project (http://ideacampaign.org/green_marathone/). Since its start, the project has enjoyed great interest among the public, while state bodies, private companies and civil society representatives have been especially active in the process. Executive authorities of 76 districts and cities have joined the “Green Marathon”. IDEA Public Union is immensely grateful to all partners for their contribution to the successful implementation of the project and, in general, to the protection of the country’s environment. IDEA is particularly sensitive to the issue of protection and expansion of the country’s green areas. Thus, it was upon IDEA’s initiative that over 4 million trees have been planted in Azerbaijan within the past 4 years. Furthermore, a significant headway has been achieved in the prevention of illegal tree-cutting in Baku and the adjacent areas after one year of implementation of the “No tree-cutting!” program, jointly initiated by IDEA Public Union and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. So far, more than 150 complaints have been submitted by citizens through the “1113” hotline established within the program (for both landline and mobile operators), while IDEA’s rapid response team called “First aid to the nature” has investigated those complaints on the spot and taken all necessary measures in partnership with the relevant state bodies with a view to restore the destroyed greeneries (http://ideacampaign.org/az/first_aid_to_the_nature/). IDEA Public Union intends to further continue its efforts to protect and expand Azerbaijan’s green areas.

Pollution and contamination of coastal areas is considered to be one of the most topical contemporary ecological problems. Along with sanitary problems, littering of the coasts harms the marine environment, its flora and fauna.

Committed to its mission to protect our environment, IDEA Public Union, jointly with the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, installed its first IDEA Bicycle Stand in Baku within the project aimed at promotion of bicycles as a mode of transport. The stand was installed on 26 May 2015 in front of "The Club" sports center located in the Port Baku complex.
