IDEA Public Union Organizes a Coastal Clean-up Action on the Buzovna Beach

Pollution and contamination of coastal areas is considered to be one of the most topical contemporary ecological problems. Along with sanitary problems, littering of the coasts harms the marine environment, its flora and fauna.

Unfortunately, just as for the rest of the world, this also represents a significant problem for Azerbaijan. Pollution of the Caspian coast by visitors during the beach season has many negative consequences.

Considering the importance of the issue, each year IDEA Public Union organizes social events on Baku’s beaches with the participation of hundreds of youths. Continuing this tradition, on 30 May 2015, IDEA Public Union and “Tamiz Shahar” JSC held a clean-up action on the territory of the Buzovna beach under the motto “Let’s keep our beaches clean!”.

Along with collecting waste from the coastal areas and engaging the youth in keeping the environment clean, the event’s goal was to make a public call for people not to pollute the environment.

Furnished with all the necessary sanitary equipment, the participants of the clean-up action assorted the collected waste and determined the most common types of waste found on the beach. Afterwards, the waste was delivered to the Balakhani Solid Waste Sorting Plant by special vehicles.

In connection with the forthcoming beach and holiday season, IDEA Public Union calls upon each individual to use nature’s goods responsibly and not to cause harm to the environment for the sake of the future generations.
