On October 16, a World Food Day event was held at ADA University, organized jointly by the IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). World Food Day 2017 was organized under the theme “Change the Future of Migration: Invest in Food Security and Rural Development.”

During a tree-planting campaign, 1,200 fruit trees were planted on a 2.5-hectare plot of land allocated by the Shamkir District Executive Authority. The fruit orchard was divided among low-income families residing in the Shamkir district, including families of Karabakh war veterans and martyrs, and provided for their free use. These families will have the opportunity to care for the fruit orchards, harvest the produce, and thereby improve their material well-being. Representatives of the Shamkir District Executive Authority also participated in this campaign.

On 22 September 2017, along with the rest of the world Azerbaijan celebrated the World Carfree Day. IDEA Campaign together with its partners Heydar Aliyev Center and the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation called everyone to give up their cars for one day, and do things more by walking, biking and taking public transportation. The official carfree day celebration in Baku consisted of the two stages: a bike ride and awareness raising program.

On 16 September 2017, IDEA Campaign and “Tamiz Shahar” JSC held the 8th coastal cleanup event on Buzovna beach. Over 200 eager volunteers turned up at one of Baku’s dirtiest beaches and helped to clean it and raise awareness on marine pollution.
