Continuing its mission as an organization that implements large-scale projects aimed at drawing youth’s interest to ecological issues and engaging them in environmental protection, IDEA has held another session of its Green Conversation Club on February 24, 2017.

As a pilot phase of the project, over 200 waste recycling containers were distributed in Baku State University, Academy of Public Administration, State Oil and Industrial University, University of Languages, Azerbaijan Technical University and State University of Economics.

During the session, which was devoted to the theme of nature and environment this month, the young environmentalists were taught about basic ecological principles, types of ecosystems, and classification of animals. Later, they were introduced to the Red Book of Azerbaijan and given fun facts about the animals of the country.

The seminar was attended by representatives from the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Regional Development Public Union, the Military Hunting Union under the Special State Protection Service, the Azerbaijan office of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), independent environmental experts, and amateur hunters from various regions.

Both the the Arctic and the Antarctic of Earth are undergoing unprecedented changes as a result of man-made climate change. Therefore, the first eco-lab session of the year focused on teaching children about these most sensitive ecosystems in the world.

IDEA Campaign has once again been endorsed by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as the official Country Management Team of the Earth Hour 2017 campaign in Azerbaijan. In this regard, on 25 March 2017 mass public events are expected to be held in Azerbaijan in celebration of the 10th year anniversary of the Earth Hour.
