The Ecological Laboratory for Children – First Session of 2017
Both the the Arctic and the Antarctic of Earth are undergoing unprecedented changes as a result of man-made climate change. Therefore, the first eco-lab session of the year focused on teaching children about these most sensitive ecosystems in the world.
In the course of the session, children were informed about the North and South poles, their geographical location, harsh environment and native plants and animals.
Further, out little environmentalists participated in fun lab experiments, and especially enjoyed creating the Northern Lights effect and learning how auroras occur forming beautiful colors and patterns.
Apart from being a day full of fun and learning, the session has been a great contribution to children’s knowledge about the threat of glaciers melting in the Arctic and Antarctic, and human responsibility for climate change.
The Ecological Laboratory for Children is a joint project that is being carried by IDEA Campaign and Sevimli Bala kids club for three years now, providing opportunities and resources to extend the children’s knowledge and awareness of the environment.
