At the intiative of the Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Union starts a new programme titled “No tree cutting!” in order to contribute to the solutions to the environmental problems and empowering socio-ecological control among people in Azerbaijan. A hotline named “First aid to the nature” and mobile group have been created within the programme. The citizens can reach IDEA regarding with their complains and requests on illegal tree felling, that they witness in the country. The mobile group will start investigations upon the complains, gather the proofs, photo and video materials.

The program containing theoretical and practical parts lasted four days. Nearly 20 young people participated in the tranings on the “Azerbaijan Ornitofauna and observation of bird species” during the theoretical part of the program which took place between April 29 – May 1. Theoretical sessions were conducted by Sevinj Sarukhanova, the expert of the WWF Azerbaijan. The young were informed about population and the assessment of potential impacts on them during the sessions. In addition, participants fullfiled the writing tasks on the relevant research topics.

In the International Art Festival “Maiden Tower”, launched in 2010, over seventy renowned artists from various countries of the world have decorated models of the Maiden Tower in their own national styles, artists created works reflecting the synthesis and mutual exchange of different cultures and traditions. Since 2012, along with the main objective- promotion of the Maiden Tower – the organizers have decided to draw public attention to the issue of environmental protection.

About 20 design projects have been submitted to the competition, which started on February 3rd.

Within the project, which has taken a start on February 3, the citizens have delivered a huge amount of paper and paper products to the ASAN Xidmət centers. According to the rules of the project, 1 tree is planned to be planted for 50 Kg paper. Thus, within the project, continued 3 months, 1576 trees were planted for 78 810 Kg paper.
