Following the release in October of the initial group of European bison from the acclimatization area into the wild, 9 more animals have arrived in Azerbaijan and settled in Shahdag National Park for acclimation. The project partners IDEA, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and WWF Azerbaijan continue their efforts to repopulate the mountains of the Greater Caucasus and thank everyone who is supporting and following the journey of this iconic animal back into our nature.
25.11.2021Following the yearly tradition of greening the Balakhani polygon for waste utilization, a total of 1000 trees were planted by IDEA, “Tamiz Shahar” JSC and Ministry of Economy. The polygon was created in 2009 and has since been treating Baku’s municipal waste. It should be noted that the leachate water from waste at the polygon is purified and reused for watering trees in the area.
11.11.2021The Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP) has admitted IDEA as an observer member during its 26th session taking place in Glasgow, UK on 1 - 12 November 2021. The admission allows our organization to participate in and contribute to the UNFCCC process that aims to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. The annual biggest climate conference, COP26 will gather all countries to discuss the progress and challenges related to the Paris Climate Agreement, an international treaty that was adopted in 2015 and entered into force in 2016.
05.11.2021On October 29, twenty European bison, including the four calves, have finally been released into the wild in Shahdag National Park after a two-year acclimatization and adaptation period. Collared with GPS devices, these animals will be tracked and monitored for their movement and survival, collecting valuable information that may benefit the wild population in the future.

27.10.2021The newly-established Aquaponics Training Center was unveiled in Baku on 23 October 2021. The project that aims to introduce the aquaponics system in Azerbaijan was jointly carried out by IDEA, UNDP-GEF Kura II Project and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. Aquaponics system is based on advanced technologies that allow simultaneous cultivation of fish and plants to obtain environmentally friendly, organic and high-quality products.
