Winners of the Eco Picture Diary 2013 Project Awarded

On December 10, 2013, the award ceremony of the international contest Eco Picture Diary 2013 took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Twenty finalists of the project, organized for the first time in Azerbaijan by the initiative of IDEA Public Union, led by the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva, were awarded diplomas and various gifts.

The ceremony was attended by many officials, representatives of state and government agencies, ambassadors of foreign countries in Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of secondary schools attended by the finalist students.

The title of "National Winner" of the international contest, organized under the auspices of UNESCO, the Heydar Aliyev Center, IDEA Public Union, and Panasonic Marketing CIS (PMCIS), was awarded to Fuad Soltanov, a student of class 6a1 of the Baku European Lyceum. Fuad Soltanov was sent to Paris, the capital of France, to participate in the international round of the competition. The national winner represented Azerbaijan at the international event held from December 3-6, supported by Panasonic.

The finalists of the national round of the contest were selected from 3,032 students participating in the project. During the designated period, the students created drawings reflecting current global environmental problems and the importance of environmental protection in specially prepared "Diaries" for the contest, adding brief descriptions of their ideas.

It is worth noting that the Eco Picture Diary 2013 international contest, held annually since 2008 and covering more than 50 countries, aims to foster and develop a sense of love for nature among the younger generation, strengthen environmental education, and mobilize students for environmental protection. The project also serves to foster an active civic stance on environmental and health protection.
