Tree Planting Event Dedicated to Heydar Aliyev’s Birthday

On May 5, 2018, the State Housing Construction Agency (MIDA) and IDEA Public Union organized a tree planting event to mark the 95th birthday of the National Leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. The event took place in the first phase of the Yasamal Residential Complex, the Agency's inaugural project.

Protecting the environment and improving ecological conditions have been integral parts of Heydar Aliyev’s extensive activities. One of Azerbaijan's development priorities is to ensure the highest standards of nature conservation, environmental improvement, and healthy living conditions for citizens. This tradition, established by the National Leader, continues successfully under President Ilham Aliyev, his worthy successor. Thanks to his attention and care, consistent efforts are being made to enhance the ecological situation, expand green spaces, and plant new trees.

The IDEA Public Union, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in 2011, plays a crucial role in environmental protection and public awareness about ecological issues.

During the planning of residential complexes, the State Housing Construction Agency places significant emphasis on ensuring a healthy and ecologically clean environment. The aim of the tree planting event was to focus public attention on protecting green spaces, contribute to the expansion of greening efforts in the country, and encourage the younger generation to participate in ecological activities.

Over 100 plants, including Eldar pine, plane trees, olive trees, and ornamental shrubs, were planted during the event. The area was also cleaned and improved.

The Yasamal Residential Complex, MIDA’s first project, is located along the Outer Circular Highway. The 11.6-hectare complex is situated in an ecologically healthy and clean area, with nearly 5 hectares of adjacent green space. Special attention was given to greening during the planning phase. According to Azerbaijani construction norms, residential buildings can cover up to 40% of the total area, but in Yasamal, this is kept close to 25%, allowing for extensive courtyards, green spaces, playgrounds, and a stadium. Additionally, plans include creating rest areas for residents and installing various attractions for children.
