The Green Marathon Mass Tree-Planting Campaign Launched
Under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and leader of the IDEA Public Union, the next mass tree-planting campaign has begun across the country as part of the “Republican Greening Marathon” (“Green Marathon”).
The campaign is organized by the IDEA Public Union with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and it aims to plant about one million trees during the spring and autumn planting seasons across all regions of the country, thereby increasing green spaces.
The main goal of the project is to expand green areas, promote tree planting, contribute to the protection of the environment, as well as increase the biodiversity of our country's flora, and raise awareness about the preservation of greenery.
To actively engage the population in this tree-planting movement, the project organizers plan to gift saplings to all volunteers to encourage their participation in the planting process and foster care for nature.
During the campaign, trees of various species, such as apricot, oleaster, pine, pistachio, cypress, acacia, maple, ash, walnut, oak, and chestnut, suitable for each region's soil and climate conditions, will be planted.
The marathon, implemented by the IDEA Public Union together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, will continue across the country until the end of the spring season and during the next autumn planting season.
The mass tree planting also supports the efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, which is one of the main commitments of the 26th summit of the member countries of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to be held in Glasgow this November. At a time when the whole world is fighting to protect our planet, we must each strive to fulfill our responsibilities.
The IDEA Public Union, which intends to continue its efforts to protect and increase green spaces in our country, together with its partners, calls on the public to actively participate in environmental conservation activities.
Let's unite and take ownership of our nature, which becomes more beautiful with every new tree!
