The Ecological Laboratory for Children – April 2017

In the April’s session of the Ecological Laboratory project the young environmentalists commemorated Earth Day.

During the session, children learned about the history of Earth Day and the importance behind celebrating it. Getting acquainted with the Red Book of Azerbaijan, kids learned about the extinction of plants and animals, the causes and consequences of extinctions and how to prevent endangered species from becoming extinct.

Children also created herbaria, and made salt dough fossils by pressing dinosaur toys into the dough to understand how fossils are made and what they indicate. At the end of the session, leaving their coloured handprints on the poster, kids made a pledge to live greener lives and do more positive for the Planet.

The Ecological Laboratory is a monthly training session jointly launched by IDEA and Sevimli Bala kids club, providing opportunities and resources to extend the children’s knowledge and awareness of the environment.
