Over 60 Tons of Paper Waste Already Collected within the Project Let’s Turn Papers into Leaves

The second stage of the project entitled Let’s Turn Papers into Leaves was launched on 18 March 2015 by IDEA Public Union and the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In the framework of the project, paper waste collection stations were installed next to ASAN Service centers in the city of Baku and regions of the country. Moreover, the Azersun company provides special vehicles for the pick-up and delivery of paper waste exceeding 300 kg.

The project has enjoyed great interest among state agencies, the private sector as well as citizens from the very beginning. Thus, based on latest calculations of ASAN Service centers and the information obtained from Azersun” over 60 tons paper waste has already been collected within the second stage of the project.

IDEA Public Union is thankful for active participation in the project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Social Protection Fund, Azerbaijan Railways Ltd, UNICEF Azerbaijan, SOCAR Ecology Department, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical College, National Aviation Academy, Zoology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, Azad Azerbaijan Television, Azerbaijan State Publishing House – “Azernashr”, Baku secondary schools No. 21 and 298, “Aselsan-Baku” company, Turan Bank JSC, Ganja city Department of Culture and Tourism, Ganja city Hospital named after Abbas Sahhat, Ganja vocational lyceums No. 2 and 3, Ganja Debate Center, Naftalan secondary school No.1, Ganja State University, Sumgayit city education departments and other state bodies and organizations that delivered paper waste, regardless of its volume.

The main goal of this nation-wide project is to ensure the preservation of trees, protect the nature and maintain the ecological balance through reducing waste of paper and promotion of recycling. To join our efforts in achieving this goal, we invite you to participate in the project by submitting your paper waste!
