Our Yard Project - Sabunchu District, Bakikhanov, Shamil Kamilov Street

On August 4, the next courtyard renovated under the "Our Yard" project, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, was made available to residents.

The renovated yard serves multi-storey buildings housing 850 residents at 5, 7, 9, and 11 Shamil Kamilov Street, Bakikhanov Settlement, Sabunchu District.

The main goal of the "Our Yard" project is to create ecologically clean and beautified yards in the country, restore greenery, which is the foundation of urban ecology, promote a healthy lifestyle, and establish safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.

In the newly landscaped yard, the needs of people with disabilities were considered, and to create favorable conditions for the development of children of all age groups, various facilities were built. These include a mini-football field with artificial turf, a chess area, multiple sports facilities, and playgrounds. Additionally, 4 gathering areas, numerous seats, waste bins, birdhouses, and cat shelters were installed.

Taking into account the wishes and interests of the residents, new lighting poles and surveillance cameras were installed in the courtyard. The facades and blocks of the buildings were completely repaired, and the asphalt and roofing were renewed. The electrical, gas, water, and heating systems were also rebuilt.

In addition to restoring the existing greenery, 280 trees of different species and thousands of shrubs were planted, and a green strip was established over an area of 3000 square meters. Furthermore, "green barriers" were created around the courtyard by planting common stone ivy and other climbing plants.

These green fences consist of creeping, densely growing plants like common stone ivy, which can effectively capture and retain harmful dust particles in the air. Such barriers are intended to be planted primarily around public areas, fences, gathering spots, and buildings, which will help significantly reduce air pollution alongside coniferous and evergreen trees and other plants.

Within the framework of the "Our Yard" project, residents are encouraged to submit information and recommendations to the IDEA Public Union regarding improvements needed in common residential courtyards.
