Our Yard Project — Khatai, X. Mammadov Street
The Our Yard project, organized jointly by IDEA Public Union and the Cavan Youth Movement Public Union with the support of district executive authorities in Baku, is successfully continuing its efforts to improve neglected yards.
On December 19, the next yard renovated under the Our Yard project was handed over for use. The updated yard, located at Khatai District, Xudu Mammadov Street 4-4a, serves residential buildings with approximately 400 inhabitants.
The main goal of the Our Yard project is to create environmentally clean and well-maintained yards, restore greenery, promote a healthy lifestyle, and provide safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
With the support of the Khatai District Executive Authority, the renovated yard, covering 3200 m², was designed with accessibility in mind for people with disabilities and includes children’s play equipment, sports elements, and three conversation areas. The primary aim of these facilities is to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth, improve health, make leisure time productive, and instill a routine of regular physical activity.
Considering the residents' requests and interests, the facades and entrance areas of the buildings were fully renovated. In addition to restoring the existing greenery in the yard, 50 trees and shrubs were planted, and 500 square meters of new greenery were added. Surveillance cameras were also installed to ensure the safety of residents.
The Our Yard project was initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of IDEA Public Union. The yard in Khatai is the ninth renovated yard under the project.
The project is planned to be implemented across all districts of Baku. In this regard, information and recommendations about yards in need of improvement are requested to be submitted to IDEA Public Union.
