New Year Celebration for Children
On December 22, a New Year celebration for children was held at the Zira Cultural Center, organized jointly by the IDEA Public Union and the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by participants of the 4th Nationwide Forum of Azerbaijani Children, including children with special needs, those deprived of parental care, and children from refugee and internally displaced families, as well as children with disabilities.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder, and head of the IDEA Public Union, participated in the event.
It should be noted that the 4th Nationwide Forum of Azerbaijani Children was held in Baku on November 20, organized jointly by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, and UNICEF. The Nationwide Forums for Children are held to ensure the participation of children in decision-making processes concerning their rights, to give them the opportunity to propose initiatives and suggestions regarding their issues, and to draw public attention to the protection of children's rights.
During the event, the children visited the Resource Center located at the Zira Cultural Center of the IDEA Public Union. Later, they were given a tour of the Center and the eco-park area.
To engage children in the protection of greenery and to instill a love and care for nature from an early age, trees and flowers were planted together with them in the yard of the Center. Young nature lovers were taught ways to prepare a New Year pine tree without harming the environment and were given extensive information about the protection of greenery, proper planting, and watering of trees.
During the event, a documentary film "The Bird Paradise - Aggol National Park" from the series "9 Wonders of Azerbaijan," a special project by the IDEA Public Union, was shown to highlight the country's stunning natural beauty and the importance of preserving our nature.
The event continued with a New Year celebration and entertaining activities for the children.
At the end, New Year gifts were presented to the young participants by the IDEA Public Union.
The aim of gathering forum participants distinguished by their activity, special skills, and abilities from all cities and regions of Azerbaijan is not only to organize an engaging New Year celebration for them but also to involve active young people, regardless of their age, in solving environmental problems, encourage them to join the struggle for nature conservation, and to develop their leadership skills in this field.
