Leyla Aliyeva took part in the ceremony of releasing sturgeon fish into the Caspian Sea
On June 17, as part of the cooperation between the IDEA Public Association and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan to improve the ecological environment of the Caspian Sea, a ceremony was held to release small sturgeon fish raised at the Khilli Sturgeon farm in Neftchala.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Vyacheslav Fetisov, Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Environment Program, legendary hockey player, took part in the event.
It should be noted that over the past decades, populations of rare fish species in the Caspian Sea have reached the point of extinction due to the negative impacts of human activities, pollution, smuggling and overfishing. In order to comprehensively solve the problem, the IDEA Public Association, together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Blue Sea Foundation (BLUE) of Great Britain, is implementing various measures for protection, restoration and public awareness.
