Leyla Aliyeva Met with UNICEF Regional Director
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, met with Afshan Khan, the Regional Director of UNICEF for Europe and Central Asia, who was visiting our country.
Leyla Aliyeva highly appreciated UNICEF's efforts to improve the situation of children worldwide, emphasizing that ensuring the well-being, health, and education of children is the most valuable investment in our future. She noted that significant progress has been made in Azerbaijan in recent years in this area and expressed confidence that work will continue and expand. Highlighting the importance of children's education and awareness in environmental protection, Leyla Aliyeva provided detailed information about numerous projects carried out by the IDEA Public Union over the past six years to enhance children's ecological knowledge, including eco-labs, camps, courses, and publications.
In turn, UNICEF's Regional Director, Afshan Khan, expressed her gratitude to Leyla Aliyeva for her active efforts to educate children on environmental and sustainable development issues. She noted that UNICEF is interested in incorporating climate change, sustainability, and other ecological topics into educational curricula and highly appreciates IDEA's work in this area.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential collaboration prospects in children's environmental education, as well as exchanged views on the integration of children with disabilities into society, their social protection, rehabilitation, and education.
