IDEA Starts Promoting Healthy Eating Among Young People
On the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, a project to promote healthy nutrition in secondary schools has been launched.
To encourage healthy and responsible food consumption habits among young people, IDEA Public Union will organize educational presentations on this topic for senior high school students in Baku. The project is being implemented with the support of the Azerbaijan Youth Fund, the Ministry of Education, the Center for Public Health and Reforms of the Ministry of Health, and the FAO Partnership and Coordination Office in Azerbaijan.
Proper and sufficient nutrition is one of the main conditions for the well-being of people, especially for the healthy development of young people, and for realizing their potential. Additionally, responsible and sustainable food consumption is crucial for protecting the environment and ensuring that future generations' needs are met.
The first presentations were organized at the Modern Education Complex named after Heydar Aliyev and the Elite Gymnasium named after Ilyas Efendiyev. These presentations were conducted in an interactive and engaging manner, capturing the wide interest of the students. They learned about healthy diets, the effects of poor nutrition on body and brain development, the impact of irresponsible consumerism on our planet, and other valuable information.
In recent years, many projects in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable development have been implemented in our republic on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva. IDEA Public Union has been working with partners such as UNDP, FAO, and UNICEF to promote the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Azerbaijan. Special attention is given to informing young people about sustainability from an early age and increasing their role in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
IDEA Public Union urges children to choose healthy food over "fast food," which is very harmful to the body, and calls on parents to be vigilant in this matter for the sake of their children's healthy and proper development.
