Green Marathon Tree Planting Campaigns - Samukh District
On April 23, under the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Founder and Head of the IDEA Public Union, a large-scale tree planting campaign for nectar-producing trees was held in Samukh District as part of the "Republican Green Marathon" ("Green Marathon").
Organized jointly by the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and with the participation of volunteer youth, the campaign involved planting 2,000 nectar-bearing trees, including maple, acacia, paulownia, and evodia species.
The action organized as part of the "Green Marathon" project also plays a crucial role in supporting IDEA Public Union's project aimed at promoting eco-friendly entrepreneurship in the country. The project's goal is to increase the range of bees, which are biodiversity protectors, and to support the development of beekeeping in Azerbaijan.
It is well known that bees and other pollinators play an essential role in preserving biodiversity and are considered the most ecologically safe and beneficial form of agriculture. Nectar-producing bees actively participate in pollinating plants, enhancing their productivity and sustainability. The development of plant life and the existence of bees are interdependent: bees and other insects pollinate plants, ensuring their reproduction and the development of certain species.
The “Green Marathon” project will continue large-scale tree planting activities in other regions of the country.
The project partners, aiming to plant around 1 million trees during the spring and autumn seasons, call on everyone to support this initiative and unite for the green future of our environment.
