Fish Fry Released into the Territory of Göygöl National Park

On May 8, the next release of fish fry was carried out as part of the large-scale "Abundant Basins" project, jointly organized by IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, aimed at protecting and restoring the bioresources of Azerbaijan's inland water bodies. During the event, 5,000 golden trout fry were released into Göygöl with the participation of young volunteers.

As is known, in recent decades, the natural populations of fish species in our country's water bodies have reached the brink of extinction due to the negative impacts of human activities.

In this regard, at the initiative of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, a number of important initiatives are being implemented to protect and restore the aquatic fauna of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus region.

The "Abundant Basins" project aims to increase the natural populations of fish species, release fry of various fish species raised in hatcheries into the natural environment, as well as implement measures to reduce pollution in inland water bodies and promote legal and civilized fishing practices.

It is worth noting that within the framework of the project, which started in May last year, a total of nearly 2 million fry of various fish species have been released.

The "Abundant Basins" project also coincides with the four-month moratorium announced from May 1 in connection with the spawning period of fish. In this regard, the project organizers call on all citizens to actively participate in the protection of fish resources, prevent illegal fishing methods, support the promotion of responsible fishing, and refrain from all actions that hinder the increase of fish stocks.

Let us restore and protect Azerbaijan's unique and valuable aquatic bioresources and fragile ecosystems together!
