Ecological Laboratory for Children Organized for Children Living in Orphanages

On December 26, as part of the "Ecological Laboratory for Children" project, jointly conducted by IDEA Public Union and the "Sevimli Bala" organization, an event was held at the IDEA Animal Care Center.

The training, dedicated to the theme of "Love for Nature," involved about 100 children aged 6-11 from orphanages No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3.

During the session, the "Little Ecologists" learned about interesting facts about our planet, wildlife, ecosystems, animal classification, species extinction, and also about winter changes in nature, snow, its structure, and formation.

In the run-up to the New Year, the children were shown how to prepare a New Year's Christmas tree without harming the environment. During the event, the young ecologists met the beloved residents of the IDEA Animal Care Center, including stray dogs and cats, as well as rabbits, turtles, guinea pigs, iguanas, parrots, and various fish. They had the chance to feed and care for them. Additionally, a documentary film "Shirvan National Park," part of IDEA’s "Nine Wonders of Azerbaijan" series, was shown to the children.

To engage the children in protecting greenery, flowers were planted in the Center's yard, and care instructions were provided. The event was followed by a New Year's party and exciting activities for the children.

At the end of the session, IDEA Public Union and "Sevimli Bala" presented New Year gifts to the young ecologists from orphanages No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3.

The "Ecological Laboratory for Children" project, running since January 2015, not only provides an interesting and fun day for the children but also plays a crucial role in instilling ecological knowledge from an early age. Each month, the project covers various ecological topics, including climate change, global warming, "green cities," waste and recycling, seasons and trees, air pollution, eco-friendly and healthy food, water properties and conservation, energy and conservation, animal care, and more. Overall, nearly 1,000 children have participated in the ecological laboratory.
