Beekeeping Farm to Be Created for Disadvantaged Youth
A new project titled "Promoting the Development of Eco-Entrepreneurship among Azerbaijani Youth" has been launched on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union. The project aims to establish a beekeeping farm for young people and young families.
The project is implemented with the joint organization of the IDEA Public Union, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Employment Agency, and the public legal entity ABAD. Its goals are to increase the habitat of bees, which are protectors of biodiversity, in our country, promote beekeeping as a type of eco-entrepreneurship in the regions of Azerbaijan, support the production of natural honey, contribute to improving the financial well-being of low-income families, and ensure youth employment.
As part of the project, 20 young people with a special interest in beekeeping have been engaged in two-week theoretical and practical training on creating and properly developing beekeeping farms. These young participants will be fully equipped with the necessary resources and materials for beekeeping, and the necessary conditions will be created for them to effectively carry out the production process.
To enable the young eco-entrepreneurs to increase the number of hives through natural growth over two years, their farms will be regularly monitored by specialists, who will provide them with the necessary advice. When they reach the stage of producing competitive honey in a market economy, the new beekeepers will be helped to access a broad customer base and effectively organize sales by showcasing their products at ABAD stands.
It is known that bees and other pollinators play an important role in biodiversity conservation, and beekeeping is considered one of the most environmentally friendly and beneficial types of agriculture. Honey bees actively participate in pollinating plants, increasing their productivity and resilience. Taking this into account, the IDEA Public Union, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, has carried out several mass tree-planting campaigns to support beekeeping by planting nectar-giving trees in our country.
Nature needs bees, and we need nature. Let's increase our care for bees and live together with them. Where there are bees, there is life!
