Baku will Host the International Green Week for the First Time

From November 12 to 16, the international "Green Week" project will launch in Azerbaijan for the first time, organized by the IDEA campaign and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme).

In addition to local guests, the event will feature representatives from various international organizations, state and non-governmental organizations, and young leaders from foreign countries.

On the first day of the event, an international youth forum will be organized. The forum will primarily discuss the outcomes of the RIO+20 summit held in June 2012.

On the second day, UNEP plans to hold a meeting of major European environmental groups and stakeholders with over 50 foreign representatives. This event will be the first of its kind not only in Azerbaijan but also in the Caucasus region.

On November 14, the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy will host a training program titled "Environmental Diplomacy" on its green campus for the first time in our country. More than 300 young people are expected to participate in this open lecture format program.

On the fourth day of the "Green Week," a round table on the topic of the green economy will take place with the participation of representatives from government bodies and international organizations. The project will conclude with a meeting of UNEP's Ministries of Environment and Health representatives.

It is worth noting that the IDEA campaign, initiated on July 12, 2011, by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, has been involved in numerous local and international projects.
