As Part of the Plastic Free July Movement, Eco-packs were Distributed to Customers in Baku

In order to build a cleaner and healthier future, together with the public organization IDEA, the British Embassy in Azerbaijan and the BRAVO retail chain, an action was held to reduce the use of plastic bags.

During the campaign, hundreds of eco-bags were given to customers who visited the BRAVO hypermarket, located near the Koroğlu metro station. The event is in support of the Plastic Free July movement, which aims to help millions of people around the world take part in the fight against plastic pollution.

During the event, which aroused great interest among buyers, IDEA volunteers, in addition to distributing eco-bags to citizens, explained the harm of plastic to nature and the human body, and the simple steps that need to be taken to reduce the use of disposable items. plastic items, and the importance of sorting waste and sending it for recycling. As a result, in order to effectively organize the fight against plastic pollution, a survey was conducted on the attitude of capital residents towards sorting, recycling and recycling waste.

It should be noted that given the importance of informing the population in the field of waste management for the economical and efficient use of natural resources, a number of large-scale projects were implemented on the initiative of the founder and leader Leyla Aliyeva. The IDEA public association, vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, collected and sent for recycling more than 3,000 tons of paper and more than 1,000 tons of plastic waste.

The British government has also taken a number of important steps to reduce plastic use. In 2015, sales of plastic bags fell by more than 95% after major UK supermarkets made plastic bags available to customers for a fee.

It is known that from January 1, 2021, the sale, import and production of plastic bags up to 15 microns thick is completely prohibited in our country in order to reduce environmental damage from plastic waste. From July 1, the import, production and sale of single-use plastic mixing sticks, forks, spoons, knives, plates and glasses is prohibited.
