Another Bison was Born in Shahdag National Park

Another calf was born from a bison brought to Azerbaijan as part of the bison reintroduction project implemented by the IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the Azerbaijan representation of WWF.

Arzu Samadova, an employee of the Biodiversity Protection Service, reported that the number of bison calves in Shahdag National Park has reached five. The calf is healthy, has adapted to the local conditions, and has joined the herd.

"It should be noted that according to the Cooperation Agreement signed between the IDEA Public Union and Shahdag National Park, 17 bison were brought from Europe to the Ismayilli section of Shahdag National Park in 2019-2020 with the aim of restoring the extinct bison population and reintroducing them into the country’s nature. These measures are aimed at increasing the bison population in Azerbaijan."
