Agricultural Trees Planted Along the Highway

On November 11, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the IDEA Public Union organized a planting of agricultural trees—specifically olive trees—along the Zigh-Heydar Aliyev International Airport highway, considering domestic demand and export potential.

The tree planting campaign was organized to support the campaign led by the President of Azerbaijan to increase agricultural exports and reduce imported products, as well as to support economic reforms aimed at increasing the cultivation and production of local products.

The campaign was attended by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Hüseyn Bağırov, ministry employees, as well as representatives from the public and around 300 representatives of ecological non-governmental organizations. To expand food production, a new green area consisting of olive trees was established along the Zigh-Heydar Aliyev International Airport highway on a 1.5-hectare area.

Subsequently, the campaign participants provided agro-technical care to the greenery over an area of more than 30 hectares.

It should be noted that similar campaigns for planting agricultural trees are being carried out along other major highways in the country, as well as in forest fund areas. The planting of trees such as walnut, hazelnut, pomegranate, mulberry, and others, aimed at meeting domestic demand and export, continues.
