A Presentation of the Documentary Film King of the Mountains Took Place
On April 17, the Shahdag Baku Congress Center hosted the premiere ceremony of the documentary film "The King of the Mountains."
The event was attended by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union.
Before the film presentation, guests were invited to Shahdag. The director of "The King of the Mountains," Igor Bishnyov, reviewed a photo exhibition featuring images captured during the filming.
The ceremony also showcased footage from a new film about the recently established Gizilagach National Park, which is currently being filmed.
Leyla Aliyeva expressed her gratitude and shared her impressions of the six-year filming process with the guests.
The film aims to highlight the creation of Shahdag National Park, the largest national park in the South Caucasus, the fauna species that inhabit it, 108 of which are listed in the Red Book of Azerbaijan, endemic and other endangered species, and transboundary migratory animals. It also features the diverse flora unique to the region. The film describes the breathtaking landscape of Shahdag, likened to a grand and majestic castle, as well as the globally significant mountain forests in the area.
Documentary films such as "Shirvan National Park" in 2014, "Bird Paradise - Ag Göl National Park" and "Goygol National Park" in 2015, "Azerbaijan. Saving Gazelles" in 2017, and "Absheron National Park" last year have been presented to the public. The project aims to prepare a documentary film for all national parks in the country.
On the initiative of the IDEA Public Union, "Shahdag. The King of the Mountains" will be shown in higher education institutions across the country, as well as in resource centers in Baku and Ganja. Additionally, "Shahdag. The King of the Mountains" is planned to be screened in other countries and at various international events.
The main goal of IDEA in creating this series of documentary films about national parks is to promote the enigmatic natural beauty of Azerbaijan both domestically and internationally, and to draw attention to the importance of environmental conservation.
